Multimeter or Network Tester? A Practical Guide to Choosing the Right Test Tool

Let me start with a confession: I don't think every test equipment buyer needs a Rohde & Schwarz instrument. Not even close.   3. What is the cost of a wrong reading? A wrong voltage reading can hurt someone. A wrong RF measurement can cost a contract. Match the risk to the tool.

That said, my experience skews toward commercial and industrial settings, not residential electrical work. If you're doing appliance checks or simple outlet repairs, your risk profile is different. A basic CAT III multimeter from a known brand is probably enough.
